Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene off the coast of South Carolin...Image via WikipediaIt seems that the folks here in the Upstate of South Carolina have missed the brunt of Hurricane Irene.  The days preceding her arrival there was a chance that it could hit as far south as Charleston but as she approached that changed and it was moved farther north.  Hurricanes always seem to become some sort of cult phenomenon despite the destruction they can cause.  New Yorkers are by far the most interesting when told they could be in the path of Irene.  They throw parties, make t-shirts and generally make jokes.  While down here in the south people seem to take them way more seriously.  I just hope that no matter where Irene hits that people are smart and safe and there is no injuries and minimal damage to property.

Be Prepared For Stormy Weather

Rolling thunderstorm (Cumulonimbus arcus)Image via WikipediaLooks like there is a high probability of a stormy day before it is all over.  The weather is saying this is a high risk day for severe storms, tornados and high wind damage throughout the mid west all the way over to the Carolinas.  The rain we can always use but damaging storms are never wanted or needed.  There have been areas that have already been hard hit with tornados and floods so early in the storm season.  It makes you realize that you MUST always be prepared for the owrst with mother nature to save lives.  This is a serious threat so please be watchful and take the appropriate measures to protect yourself, family and friends.
